Vision Loss and Blindness

In America alone, more than 3 million (2.7 percent) people aged 40 or older are reported as either blind or visually impaired (U.S. Department of, 2008). How these people go about their daily lives should be of high interest to the rest of us, because it allows us to know more about ourselves, too. Definitions for terms, different types and degrees of vision loss, possible deficit areas, possible etiologies, common prognosis methods, and common settings where the population live or are served have all been covered. An idea for a music therapy activity for use with the blind has also been described. More »
